Description

In Death Fog you will meet a young marine biologist that stumbles upon murder in her uncle’s locked study, while the surf rages on the rocks below.  Later, she is thrust over the rocks, her hand grasping a root on her way down  to what was intended to be certain death.

In Red Cypress, Jeffrey Thomas, writer of mysteries and all things strange and even a bit weird, stumbles upon a 50 year old mystery that peaks his curiosity.  He explores an old hacienda, the ancestral home of a Cannery Row Captain, and meets one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen, who is intent on restoring her family heritage.  The courtyard of the estate features a cypress that turned red 50 years ago when the son of the captain was harpooned to the trunk.  Everyone believed the killer of this bazaar crime was justly hung by the state, but if so, who or what returned through the fog to strike again?

In a Point of Death, a once calm and tranquil tide pool, nestled in the rocks along the Pacific coast, brought screams to an elderly woman when she spotted the body of a young girl floating amidst the kelp.   Matilda Brown, her hands  flaying in the air, ran down the coastal path and secured the help of Captain Brown who was nursing his arthritic leg on a nearby bench.  The two of them, with the help of Mattie’s nephew, Jeffrey Thomas, and the authorities, of course, solved one of the most elaborately planned murders the little seaside town had ever seen.  Mattie became one of the most unlikely heroines who also won the heart of the gruff, but softhearted Captain.

Reunions can be unpredictable, and the Final Reunion is no exception.  Just a few miles inland from the Pacific nestles a little town preparing for such an event.  A stately Victorian, all polished and made ready for her guests, was unprepared for the screams that broke the festive scene.  Two late arrivals had stepped into one of the upstairs bathrooms to freshen up only to be horrified by the occupant of the tub.  The water was quickly turning a deep red and the jewel studded hilt of the knife was all that could be seen protruding from the neck of the woman that was now below the surface of the water.

Lust, jealousy and secret liaisons, filled the Sherriff’s list for motives.  After one false arrest, he finally, with the help of our old friend, Lizzie Mac Donald, uncovered the true identity of the murderer.

The Snow Bank is a journey back in time, to a simpler, less flamboyant era.  This is a time when men and women scrimped and saved.  A time, on the heels of a deep depression, that served to either build character or to destroy what was barely there.  The old saying, “When things get tough, the tough get going,” is not lost on this narrative.   Yes, there is a puzzle, a mystery, though not a murder.  It is up to us to determine just how the young man became unconscious on the snow bank, and by what method did his wallet and week’s pay disappear.  Yes, a trip back in time that could possibly prove to be timeless.
